Mental Health Series: I Need Jesus AND My Therapist!

In recognition of Mental Health Awareness Month, Capitol Hill will launch a 4-week special edition of Wednesdays In The Word starting on May 12. The theme is: “Battlefield of the Mind: I Need Jesus AND My Therapist!”  Speakers for the virtual series will feature licensed mental health professionals:

  • Dr. Morgan Medlock
  • Dr. Elaine Oliver
  • Dr. Kesslyn Brade Stennis
  • Dr. David Defoe

Senior pastor Dr. Emil Peeler will be joined on the first night by co-host Tanya Taylor, Director of Counseling Services at the Capitol Hill Counseling and Resource Center. Each weekly session will conclude with a panel facilitated by Pastor Mario Broussard, Director of Counseling at Capitol Hill SDA Church and a clinically-licensed social worker. 

The series will cap off on Friday, June 4 with a special roundtable featuring Grammy, Dove and Stellar Award winning gospel artist, Richard Smallwood. Michelle Riley Jones of Capitol Hill's music ministry, will host the event where Richard Smallwood will discuss his personal battle with mental health from his book, Total Praise, The Autobiography.
