Music & Worship Arts

Music and Creative Arts
at Capitol Hill

"Everything on earth will worship you; they will sing your praises,
shouting your name in glorious songs"
  Psalm 66:4

God does not bless great talent.
He blesses great likeness to Jesus.

"We want to be, and live our lives, as Jesus did."
1 John 2:6, paraphrased

The Capitol Hill SDA Church Music and Arts Ministry ministers to kindle a worship environment that: ACKNOWLEDGES Jesus as Lord and King; REFLECTS Christ through our witness and testimony; INSPIRES others to seek to know Him and to submit to His will for their lives; and, NURTURES the congregation in full, conscious and active relationship with Him.

Our preparation for and participation in worship is guided by CHC’s Pastoral Guidelines for Music and Creative Arts Ministry provided to all current and prospective members. These tenets are designed to provide consistency in our worship celebrations where Christ is exalted, God is honored, the anointing is present, and the people are participating and blessed.

If you have a passion for music and want to grow your gifting to serve God in a team setting, we invite our congregants and community of all ages and levels to get involved.

Children and Youth Choirs

Our music ministry seeks to enrich the lives of children (ages 4 to 12) and youth (ages 13 to 19) through music and to foster an environment in which they not only participate, but also contribute to the worship experience on a consistent basis. Our support of the children/youth through music and arts is four-fold:

  • Spiritual growth—Rehearsals take on a spiritual formation approach that presents a joyful way for children and youth to get to know and to worship God. Rehearsals help establish relationship with God as the foundation for their musical/arts preparation.

  • Ministry—Each young member learns that it is not enough to ‘get the notes right’, or ‘get the movement right,’ but that the group is communicating the Word of God in song or dance to give inspiration to others.

  • Service—They must have an attitude of service, striving to give of their best energies and abilities for their God.

  • Peer Responsibility—We strive to be a catalyst for children/youth to not only develop their relationship with God but to tell their friends about what they are experiencing with our church community and living with Jesus, and to encourage them in getting to know Jesus.
