Our Senior Pastor

Dr. Bron Jacobs, Senior Pastor

Dr. Bron Jacobs is a shepherd shaped by scholarship, service, and a sacred sense of calling. His academic journey began at Oakwood University in Huntsville, Alabama, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Ministerial Theology in 2000. Drawn deeper into the well of theological inquiry, he continued at Andrews University’s Seventh-day Adventist Theological Seminary in Berrien Springs, Michigan—emerging with a Master of Divinity in 2005 and a Doctor of Ministry in 2013, with a focused passion for leadership that would come to define his ministry.

His ministerial path opened in the South Atlantic Conference of Seventh-day Adventists, where his voice and vision were cultivated across diverse communities—Atlanta, Georgia; Forest City and Asheville, North Carolina; and Macon, Georgia. In each place, he carried not just a message, but a mission: to build, to nurture, and to inspire.

In 2010, he was called westward to serve as senior pastor of the historic Kansas Avenue Seventh-day Adventist Church in Riverside, California. There, his leadership became a catalyst for growth and renewal, ushering in a season marked by spiritual vitality and measurable expansion. His work bore fruit in recognition, including the Southeastern California Conference Evangelism Award for leading the Pacific Union in baptisms. That same season of excellence extended to the academy, where his doctoral work earned a nomination for distinction in dissertation writing in 2013.

Answering yet another call in 2014, Dr. Jacobs journeyed to Alexandria, Virginia, to lead the Community Praise Church of Seventh-day Adventists. Over nearly six transformative years, he helped shape a thriving, intergenerational congregation. It was here that his innovative “Worship as Evangelism Paradigm” took root—reimagining worship not merely as experience, but as outreach, invitation, and encounter. As a visionary architect of mission, he guided the church in launching and weaving together strategic initiatives that bridged congregation and community.

In 2020, his path expanded once more into the academic arena as he entered the Ph.D. program in Educational Leadership and Policy Analysis at the University of Missouri. While pursuing his studies in Columbia, he continued to pastor faithfully at the Salt City SDA Mission Church within the Central States Conference. It was during this season that another dimension of his calling emerged—service to country alongside service to God. Commissioned as a United States Naval Officer, he entered the Reserve Chaplain Corps, embracing a dual vocation of ministry and military chaplaincy.

Now returning to the DMV area, Dr. Jacobs accepted the call to serve as Senior Pastor of Capitol Hill Seventh-day Adventist Church in Washington, D.C., bringing with him a rich tapestry of experience, vision, and purpose. Completing his doctoral dissertation from Orlando, Florida, his research explores the intricate intersections of religion and public policy within higher education—an intellectual pursuit that mirrors his lifelong commitment to faith in action.

At the heart of his journey is family. Dr. Jacobs shares his life with his wife, Dr. Ashley Maycock of
Huntsville, Alabama. Together, they are the proud parents of two daughters, Alana, age 10, and Aliya, age 8, whose lives add joy, grounding, and inspiration to his ongoing story.

Dr. Bron Jacobs’ life is a living narrative of calling answered, communities transformed, and purpose pursued—with faith as both compass and anchor.
